Lucknow, Sep 3 - Some students of a government-run primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district were made to mop floors and clean the toilet as punishment by a teacher, officials said Thursday.
Four students of Class 5 of the Gaurachowki Primary School in Gonda district were Wednesday made to mop floors and clean the toilet, the official added.
The teacher forced the students, including a girl, to mop floors in the classroom and clean the school toilet after they could not answer a question from a lesson taught to them a few days back.
When contacted, the official in charge of basic education in the district Amar Kant Singh told IANS: 'We have ordered a probe into the matter. We will not tolerate it. Strict action would be taken against the teacher on completion of the enquiry.'
Gonda, which is some 200 km from Lucknow, has nearly 2,700 government-run primary schools and junior high schools.
