Chennai, Aug 29 - The Tamil Nadu Combined Districts XI won the All-India cricket tournament for the Buchi Babu Memorial Trophy for the first time, notching a seven-wicket victory against Hyderabad XI in the final here Saturday.
After dismissing Hyderabad for 154 Friday, the Districts, who were 49 for no loss overnight, completed the formalities for their maiden success in the tournament.
Leading the chase from the front was the consistent K.B. Arun Karthik, who made 68. R. Srinivasan (31 not out) stayed to the finish for a fine victory.
The Districts were presented a purse of Rs.100,000 and Hyderabad received Rs.50,000.
National selection committee chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth was the chief guest.
