Mumbai, Aug 28 - With the announcement of assembly polls in Maharashtra imminent, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar Friday said he had received no proposal from the Congress on an electoral alliance.

Pawar said that he had been received suggestions from some 'well-wishers' (in the Congress) offering options like the two parties contesting jointly, separately, having a post-poll alliance, and so on, but 'so far there is no clear proposal from the Congess leadership.'

'As of now, we have no official communication from the Congress,' Pawar, the agriculture minister in the central government, said, to a question whether the two parties, who are allies in the ruling Democratic Front government in the state, would contest the assembly elections jointly.

'I understand that the internal electoral exercises of the Congress would be completed in the next four-five days. Then, we shall work out the future course of action,' he said.

As the two parties are together both at the national and state levels, the NCP would be able to chart out it course only after the Congress announced its decision, Pawar added.
