Kolkata, Aug 27 - Commercial vehicles and bus maker Ashok Leyland sees industry sales down by 3-5 percent during the second half of 2009-10 on the likely impact of a poor monsoon, a company official said Thursday.
'We see the negative impact of a poor monsoon getting restricted to a 3-5 percent degrowth in the industry but the negative impact on us would be lower,' Rajive Saharia, the company's executive director (marketing) said on the sidelines of the launch of the 2516 Super Torque Multi-Axle Truck.
The company is hopeful of posting a better than industry performance on account of its slew of vehicle launches.
Saharia, however, added that if the industry posts a positive growth rate of 5 percent year-on-year in the second half of 2009-10, the company's target is to achieve a higher growth rate of 7 percent.
'While monthly sales are down on year, what we would be really looking at is the sequential growth rates, which is encouraging,' Saharia said.
