Mumbai, Aug 27 - A key index of Indian equities markets, which opened lower mirroring weak Asian vibes, ended with a marginal gain of 38 points Thursday.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 15,711.8 points, ended at 15,807.44 points (provisional), up 37.59 points or 0.24 percent.
Around noon, the index had touched a high of 15,853.71 points, but shed its gains in the afternoon trade on high selling. The Sensex touched an intra-day low of 15,685.49 points.
The broader-based Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed higher at 4,696.05 points, up 0.32 percent.
Broader market indices also ended in the green, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.46 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index ending 1.47 percent up.
