New Delhi, Aug 27 - Ahead of playing host to a mini-ministerial meet of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) here, India's Commerce Minister Anand Sharma said the country remained committed to the successful conclusion of the Doha round of talks.
'We are in favour of establishing a rule-based fair and equitable global multilateral trading regime which has development as its core objective,' Sharma said while unveiling the new Foreign Trade Policy here.
'India remains committed to the successful conclusion of the Doha Development Round.'
The commerce minister, who will host the mini-ministerial meeting here Sep 3-4, also made it clear that the outcome must respond to the aspirations of millions of people living in developing countries like India.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had proposed to host the mini-ministerial meeting in New Delhi during the London Summit of G20 to give a renewed push to put back on track the Doha round of multilateral trade talks that kicked off in the Qatari capital in 2001.
