Chandigarh, Aug 26 - Two days after some girls of a nursing college in Punjab's Jalandhar city accused their seniors of ragging, the state government ordered a probe into the matter Wednesday.
First year students of DAV Nursing College in Jalandhar, some 150 km from here, had filed a complaint against their seniors, complaining of ragging.
Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Tikshan Sud Wednesday constituted a three-member committee to thoroughly look into the complaint.
Sud has directed the committee to submit its detailed report within a week.
'We are taking this issue very seriously. We have also given instructions that if there are any cases of this institution lying pending with the government, they should not be cleared till the inquiry is over,' said Sud here Wednesday.
He added: 'I appeal to the heads of all educational institutions in the state to immediately inform police in case any incident of ragging comes to their notice.'
