New Delhi, Aug 26 - Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Wednesday said any decision on removal of Jaswant Singh from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament, after his expulsion from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), would be taken in accordance with constitutional rules.
'I haven't heard anything with respect to Jaswantji from the Bharatiya Janata Party and we will take a decision in accordance with the rules,' Meira Kumar said during an interaction with women journalists here.
Jaswant Singh was nominated chairman of the PAC by the BJP during the budget session last month. The opposition party by convention gets the post in Lok Sabha.
Explaining the constitutional rules in such cases, Kumar said: 'Chairman of a parliamentary committee can be removed by the speaker if for any reason he or she is unable to act'.
According to rules, it is the discretion of the Lok Sabha speaker to ask a member to step down or the member can offer his resignation himself.
