New Delhi, Aug 26 - It's steel, it's for your dining table and it's not a utensil. A lifestyle brand has launched a collection of table mats, runners and coasters that fuses steel yarn with fabrics like organza and silk.

The Artd'inox limited edition home ware series - Silk Steel collection - has been churned out by designer duo Rahul and Gunjan of the label Sirali.

Describing the innovation as a landmark, COO of Artdinox Veer Kaul said: 'We want to elevate our products from being just kitchen products. We want to be recognised as a lifestyle brand that is way ahead of its contemporaries.'

Describing the task as 'difficult', designer Gunjan told IANS that they had to experiment a lot with the fabrics before the final product came out.

'These pieces are different and it was very difficult for us to blend steel yarn well with fabrics like silk and organza. We had to experiment a lot in terms of deciding which fabric to opt for as we had to have pieces that looked elegant and contemporary as well,' Gunjan explained.

'We took this assignment because people had this perception that steel is only meant to make utensils.
