New Delhi, Aug 24 - The Congress party Monday said veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani should apologise to the nation as he had 'not spoken the truth' on the cash for vote scam, the 2002 Gujarat riots and the 1999 Kandahar hijack episode.

'On all the three issues, the country wants an explanation from Advani and the BJP... The nation wants answers. At the least, he should apologies to the nation,' Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here, commenting on the issues that cropped up in the backdrop of the expulsion of senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh.

Jaswant Singh, who has held defence, finance and external affairs portfolios in the BJP-led governments, was Wednesday expelled from the party for his book 'Jinnah: India, Partition, Independence', in which he has praised Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Singhvi said Jaswant Singh has said that Advani had not spoken the truth about the three episodes.
