New Delhi, Aug 24 - Two people died due to asphyxiation while working inside a sewer in northeast Delhi Monday, police said.

The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. Monday in Karawal Nagar area of northeast Delhi when three persons Aidool, Nazrul and Zamrul were cleaning the sewer.

'They were pulled out of the sewer by the local residents in the area and taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where Aidool and Nazrul were declared dead. The condition of Zamrul is critical,' a senior police officer said.

Investigations in the matter are on, he said.
