Lucknow, Aug 24 - Three people were killed when a police vehicle escorting an inspector general of police (IG) hit them in Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh, an official said Monday.
The accident took place in the Fatehganj locality of Bareli at 6 p.m. when three young men, riding a motorcycle, were hit by a Maruti Gypsy escorting IGP Bhanu Pratap.
'The incident took place near the Focus Institute of Management. There is a sharp turn at the crossing and the youths, who were on a motorcycle, collided head-on with the escort gypsy,' Inspector Pradeep Tripathi told IANS by phone.
The identities of the deceased are not yet known and a case has been lodged against the driver, he added.
