Lucknow, Aug 20 - The Azamgarh police Thursday raided the house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Azamgarh Ramakant Yadav who is accused of murder, officials said.
A murder case was lodged against Yadav Aug 12 after a young man died in a clash between the supporters of the Ulema Council and the BJP in Phoolpur locality of Azamgarh district.
The raid was conducted at Yadav's residence in Ambari village at around 6 p.m.
'We received information that the MP was present in his house. However, we could not nab him,' Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Rai told IANS by phone.
Amir Rasadi, state head of the Ulema Council, in his First Information Report has alleged that Yadav's supporters started firing indiscriminately at his party workers after a brawl, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Abdul Rehman and injury to three others.
'We had organised a rally in the Phoolpur locality and were heading towards the venue in cars.
