Mumbai, Aug 20 - The Western Naval Command bid farewell to Admiral Sureesh Mehta, chief of the naval staff and chairman of the chiefs of staff committee, at a function here Thursday morning.
A ceremonial parade was held at the Indian Navy helicopter base INS Shikra here in honour of Admiral Mehta, who retires Aug 31. He was accompanied by his wife, Maria Teresa, president of the Navy Wives Welfare Association.
Commander Vivek Sharma commanded the parade comprising of 24 platoons, including eight armed platoons, along with a 50-man guard of honour and the naval band.
The President's Colour was also paraded during the ceremonial occasion in keeping with naval traditions.
