Chennai, Aug 19 - With the rains letting up, it poured runs on the opening day of the second round league matches of the All-India Buchi Babu cricket tournament here Wednesday.
Sahil Kukreja of Mumbai scored an unbeaten 157 against TNCA President XI. The opener's knock off 248 balls that included 15 fours boosted Mumbai's total to 313 all out.
Hyderabad's Ambati Rayudu (133) and Abhinav Kumar (112) scored strokeful centuries against Orissa.
Rayudu scored at a more rapid rate for his 173-ball knock, including five fours and four sixes, after Abhinav laid the foundation (205b, 5 x 4, 2 x 6) as Hyderabad posted 373 for eight in their quota of 90 overs.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh dismissed Tamil Nadu for 176 with skipper Subramaniam Badrinath (89) being the top scorer while Shane Bond, on a comeback trail, bowled fast and straight in three spells to capture three wickets to round off an impressive performance against Tamil Nadu Districts XI.
For Tamil Nadu Districts XI, K.B. Arun Karthik (86) and S. Suresh Kumar (95) were the mainstays.
Assam's Dhiraj Goswami (134) was another century maker on the first day of the two-day game.
Goswami's innings of 134 (173b, 19 x 4, 2 x 6) was the cornerstone of Assam's total of 254 all out as they struck back to reduce Himachal Pradesh to 11 for two at stumps on the first day.
