New Delhi, Aug 18 - Sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) plan to stage a protest Aug 28, demanding that the civic agency should release the 40 percent of the arrears due to them.
'The Sanitation Employees Welfare Association (SEWA) of the MCD's environment management services department has given a notice to stage a demonstration Aug 28 at the Town Hall in demand of release of first instalment of 40 percent arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission,' MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur said.
According to SEWA general secretary K.K. Lohat, even though the Bharatiya Janata Party ruled MCD took credit for implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, the arrears had still not been paid.
'Till date the first instalment of 40 percent of the arrears has not been released to the employees except senior level employees (level 4 employees), which was to be released in the last financial year,' he said.
'We demand that the first instalment of the arrears be released at the earliest before Dushera and Eid festivals (September end),' Lohat added.
