New Delhi, Aug 18 - The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party's highest decision making body, will meet Wednesday to discuss the drought situation in the country and appeal the government to take speedy measures to deal with it.
'The CWC will meet to discuss the drought situation in the country,' Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said here.
The CWC has also invited chief ministers of Congress-ruled states to discuss the issue.
According to official figures, this year the country has witnessed rainfall deficiency of 29 percent and the number of districts facing drought-like situation has risen to 177 out of the country's total of 626 districts.
