Patna, Aug 18 - A group of students set four coaches of the Delhi-Patna Shramjivi Express train on fire Tuesday following an altercation with Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, officials said. However, no passenger was injured in the incident.
The incident occurred at the Bihta railway station, about 30 km from Patna.
There was an exchange of words between the students, some of whom were allegedly travelling without tickets, and the RPF men. Following this, the students pelted stones and set fire to two air-conditioned coaches of the train. The fire spread to two other air conditioned coaches as well, officials said.
Some of the students have been injured and are in hospital after being allegedly beaten by police, officials said.
The train later reached Patna station.
Both the state government and the railway police have launched a probe into the incident. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is currently in New Delhi, has expressed concern over the incident.
