Mumbai, Aug 18 - A key index of Indian equities markets Tuesday ended trade 237 points above its previous close as traders booked profits at higher levels.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened lower at 14,745.8 points, ended at 15,022.24 points (provisional), up 237.32 points or 1.61 percent.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed in the green, gaining 1.57 percent from its previous closing figure to end at 4,456.85 points.
Broader market indices closed in the positive terrain, with the BSE midcap index ending 2.16 percent up, while the the BSE smallcap index closed 2.21 percent higher.
