New Delhi, Aug 14 - World soccer body FIFA has shown interest in developing the game in India's villages.
India's sports minister M.S. Gill during his meeting with FIFA president Sepp Blatter in Zurich, Wednesday, discuses a road map for the development of Indian football.
Gill requested Blatter to give some FIFA assistance to the government-sponsored Panchayat Yuva Krira aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) to develop the game at the grassroots level in India.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) secretary-general Alberto Colaco, who was also present in the meeting, said: 'Gill requested Blatter if FIFA could help to develop the sport through PYKKA. The sports minister said that through this programme football can be promoted in areas where the game is very popular.
