Mumbai, Aug 14 - A key index of the Indian equities markets ended Friday at a loss of 142 points, with investors booking profits after almost a 500-point surge in the previous session.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened lower at 15,530.386 points, ended at 15,376.13 points (provisional), down 142.36 points or 0.92 percent.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed in the red, losing 35.15 points or 0.76 percent from its previous closing figure to end at 4,569.85 points.
Broader market indices closed mixed, with the BSE midcap index ending 0.25 percent down, while the the BSE smallcap index closed 0.23 percent higher.
