Chandigarh, Aug 14 - An integrated warehousing complex, to be called Logistics Park, will soon come up here to meet the growing demands of both industry and agriculture sector in and around Chandigarh.

'The administration is undertaking a comprehensive warehousing project that will be spread over nearly 45 acres in the industrial area,' said an official spokesperson Friday.

'Under the proposal, rail warehouses, custom bonded warehouses, dry warehouses, cold storages, special platforms, open warehouses and agricultural warehouses will be set up in the Logistics Park,' he added.

The Chandigarh administration has also invited expressions of interest from companies interested in working as consultants on various aspects of the warehousing project.

The Logistics Park will have linkage services, material handling facilities and auxiliary services like fire station, residential complex, bank square, courier and booking services, rainwater harvesting facility, waste management system and internet facility.

'This project is likely to generate good employment opportunities besides ensuring smooth flow of goods and services in and around Chandigarh,' the spokesman said.
