Gandhinagar, Aug 13 - Government hospitals in Gujarat are expecting by the weekend test results for 44 people who have shown swine flu-like symptoms, a health official said here Thursday.
The suspected cases are from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Mehsana and Vapi, the official said.
Tests for 49 people were found to be negative in the past one week, while there are 19 positive cases of swine flu under treatment at various government hospitals in the state, he said.
Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas said a total of 100,000 Tamiflu tablets and 250 medical kits for tests sent by the central government arrived in Ahmedabad for distribution in the state.
He said the medical kits and the medicines would be provided to hospitals by district-level officers on a priority basis.
The minister also appealed people not to panic and take necessary precautions to prevent contracting the infection.
Gujarat has reported two swine flu deaths - NRI Pravin Patel from Atlanta, US, died in Ahmedabad Aug 9 and a seven-year-old girl died in Vadodara two days later.
