Rae Bareli, Aug 12 - United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi Wednesday visited over a dozen villages in her Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency and inspected works taken up under the central government's flagship rural jobs scheme.
Before concluding her three-day tour, Gandhi inspected the works being carried out under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in the Unchahar region and enquired from the villagers employed there about the progress.
'She also interacted with officials engaged for the NREGS works and instructed them to properly implement the development works', state Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh told IANS.
Later, Gandhi inaugurated the newly constructed customer care building of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited on its district premises.
She left for Delhi around 6 pm from the Fursatganj airport, Singh added.
This was her second visit to the constituency after the Lok Sabha polls and Gandhi, like on most occasions, avoided any interaction with the media.
