New Delhi, Aug 11 - Delegates from 31 African countries will be taking part in a two-day workshop beginning Wednesday on India's flagship project - Pan-African e-Network, which links leading universities and hospitals in this country with their counterparts in the continent.

The workshop, organised jointly by the external affairs ministry and Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL), has received an 'overwhelming response' with 66 delegates from 31 African countries participating, a statement issued said Tuesday.

The workshop will familiarise the participants with the project architecture, update them on its implementation and also discuss operational issues.

It will be conducted by technical experts from TCIL, participating Indian universities and super specialty hospitals and officials from African Union Commission.

Field visits would be organised to the TCIL data centre and some of the super specialty hospitals and universities in New Delhi and Noida and live interactions between India and Africa for tele-education and tele-medicine will take place.

The ambitious e-network project was inaugurated Feb 26 this year by then external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee.
