Ghaziabad, Aug 11 - Medical services in Ghaziabad were hit Tuesday as private doctors and chemists went on strike to protest the kidnapping of a medico who was freed by his unidentified abductors after paying a ransom amount of Rs.55 lakh.

K.M. Singh, a heart-specialist, was allegedly abducted Aug 3. His abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs.1 crore.

No arrests have been made so far in the kidnapping case, said president of the Ghaziabad wing of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Rakesh Bansal.

'Doctors fear re-emergence of organised gangs of kidnappers and we have submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate,' Bansal said.
