Chandigarh, Aug 8 - A 29-year-old engineer, admitted at a Chandigarh hospital, has tested positive for swine flu, officials said Saturday.

According to health officials, the patient is a Chandigarh resident who works as a production engineer at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) refinery at Panipat in Haryana. He had gone on an official trip to Canada and returned last month after staying there for a month.

After exhibiting the symptoms of swine flu, he was admitted at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here Aug 5.

'The patient has been admitted in an isolated ward of PGIMER. We had sent his throat swab samples to NICD (National Institute of Communicable Disease) in New Delhi and got the confirmation report yesterday (Friday) evening,' H.
