Kolkata, July 12 - A dispute among students over the duration of the tiffin break in a school erupted in clashes in Naoda in Berhampur subdivision of West Bengal's Murshidabad district where four people died in clashes and police firing since Friday, police said.

After two people died in clashes between two groups in Jhaubona village, two were killed in police firing that followed, state Director General of Police Bhupinder Singh told IANS.

Sources in the district administration said seven policemen were injured when they were attacked by armed mobs.

State Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen said peace meetings have been held in the area.

A dispute over the duration of tiffin break in Jhaubona High School Friday led to fisticuffs among students and then snowballed into clashes that spread to some nearby villages.
