Amethi, Aug 7 - Congress general secretary and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi celebrated Raksha Bandhan with women of a village in his constituency early Friday.
'Rahulji reached our village at around 1 a.m. and stayed here till 4 a.m. Over a hundred women of our group and the village tied rahkis to him,' Diptani Srivastava, the block head of a self help group in Kansapur, told IANS.
'We had prepared kadhi and rice for him and he shared it with us. As a brother, he promised to extend all possible help for our development,' Rekha Kanaujiya, a villager, said.
Rahul, who was in the state capital Thursday to attend the coordination committee meeting of the state party unit, left for Amethi town later. He left for Delhi from Amethi's Fursatganj airport at around 7 a.m.
According to Congress sources, Rahul and Congress president and Rae Bareli MP Sonia Gandhi will be visiting their constituencies again soon. A senior Congress leader in Lucknow said the party chief has planned a three-day visit after Aug 10, Rahul is expected to make a similar trip by Aug 20.
