Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 - A love affair is suspected to be behind an acid attack that left 15 people injured in an Orissa village, police said Wednesday.

The incident occurred in Dangapal village of Dhenkanal district Tuesday night. Three people were critically injured, and one of them was shifted to Cuttack hospital after his condition deteriorated.

According to police, some youths came with acid in a glass and attacked a young man named Sridhar while he was watching a video along with other villagers. According to police, the youths were angry with Sridhar for a love affair with a village girl.

'Some youths came on bikes with acid in a glass. They threw the acid on the youth as they had some differences with him. Others who were watching the video also sustained burn injuries,' said Rabinarayan Shi, subdivisional police officer of Kamakhyanagar.

Police are probing the case.
