Chennai, Aug 2 - Gaurav Dalal of Red Rooster Racing completed a successful weekend by achieving a double in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet class in the fourth round of the JK Tyre National Racing championship here Sunday.
However, Dalal, who had won the first race Saturday evening, had to wage a stiff battle against Delhi's Karthik Shankar of Team NK Speed Racing before pulling ahead at the fag-end of the 10-lap race.
Shankar grabbed the lead at the start and defended extremely well even as Dalal tried just about everything to get past. The two raced wheel to wheel to put on a thrilling battle with both pushing their machines to the limit.
However, the persistence of Dalal finally told on Shankar who put two wheels on the grass on the tight right-left sequence and then lost ground in the run-up to the Bridge Complex where Dalal made his move to get ahead.
Clearly in the faster car, Dalal then stepped up the pace while Shankar settled for second spot for a repeat 1-2 finish while Kolkatta's Amitrajit Ghosh, also of Team Red Rooster Racing, finished third.
On a day of clean racing, Ajay Kini of Wallace Sports in the Formula Swift class and K. Rajinii n the Super bikes Experts category hogged the limelight, while it was Sailesh Bolisetti's day out in the Super Saloons Class.
