New Delhi, July 29 - All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) chairman R.A. Yadav and two of his colleagues were Wednesday suspended for alleged corruption for which they are facing a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.
'The chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education, Prof. R.A. Yadav, who is under investigation for a criminal offence, has been placed under suspension today so that there is no possibility of investigation being influenced by his continuation in office,' a human resource development (HRD) ministry statement said.
The CBI on July 16 arrested AICTE member secretary K. Narayan Rao and filed corruption cases against Yadav, assistant director Om Dalal, deputy director R. Randhawa and advisor H.C. Rai.
Randhawa's job was terminated and Dalal was suspended. Rao has been deemed to have been suspended from the date of his arrest, the ministry added.
It also sent Rai back to his parent cadre as he was in AICTE on deputation. S.S. Mantha, vice-chairman of AICTE, has been given the temporary charge of the top post.
