Hyderabad, July 29 - The Andhra Pradesh High Court Wednesday stayed the process for the elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) after various groups alleged discrepancies in reservations and voters lists.
In an interim order, the court directed the government not to go ahead with the poll process. A division bench headed by Chief Justice A.R. Dave passed the orders on a batch of writ petitions filed by various groups.
Following the court order, the state election commissioner will not be able to issue a notification for the polls at least till the third week of August, when the matter will again come up for hearing.
The notification was likely to be issued this week and the polls for the 150-member municipal authority in the state capital were likely before Aug 20.
