Chandigarh, July 28 - A freak accident here Tuesday claimed the life of an electrician while his colleague was seriously injured, police said.

Electricians of a private contractor were repairing the street lights in the city's Sector 39, when the accident occurred.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (south) J.S.Khaira, two electricians were pushing a trolley towards an electricity pole, when its top edge accidentally touched the 11,000 volts wires and both men received a powerful electric shock.

Ram Das, a native of Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot while his colleague was admitted to a government hospital here in a very serious condition, he added.
