New Delhi, July 28 - National Conference president and union minister Farooq Abdullah Tuesday said his son Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had no option but to quit following allegation by opposition linking him to a sex scandal.

'This is an attack on our honour...Omar has taken a right step. He knows honour is more important than the chair...If somebody puts same allegations on you, then how will you feel,' the senior Abdullah told a news channel here.

Omar Abdullah, who became the chief minister of the National Conference-Congress coalition government in January 2009, resigned Tuesday from his post after senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig alleged in the state assembly that his name figured in the list of accused in the sex scam that rocked the state in 2002.

Union Minister of Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah also said the allegations were baseless and that the 'PDP has nothing to say...they just don't want the democracy to work further'.
