Chandigarh, July 28 - Haryana's Health Minister Kartar Devi was Tuesday admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here following illness.

A senior Haryana government official said the health minister was suffering from acute asthma and her condition worsened in recent days. She is presently on ventilator support.

The portfolios of health and medical education, social justice and empowerment, women and child development and welfare of the Scheduled Castes and backward classes, held by Kartar Devi, were allocated to the chief minister during her sickness period.

Till she returns to work after getting well, Kartar Devi will remain minister without portfolio, a Haryana government spokesman said.
