Kolkata, July 27 - The recovery of two improvised explosive devices (IED) in West Bengal's Malda district close to the India-Bangladesh border has thrown the security agencies into a tizzy.

Police said the IEDs recovered last week from Sujapur area could be operated through remote technology devices.

'Such types of explosives were never found in the state. It's definitely a matter of concern as far as the security matters are concerned,' state deputy inspector general Criminal Investigation Department (special operation group) Siddhinath Gupta told IANS Monday.

'We are taking it very seriously. We are trying to find out how come these explosives came to Malda district that shares borders with neighbouring Bangladesh,' he said.

Sources said the explosives were defused at Malda police lines Parade Ground.

The district police along with the state Intelligence Bureau (IB) had also launched a search operation to find out if there were any more explosives concealed in the area.
