New Delhi, July 27 - Four men on motorcycles waylaid two bank employees in west Delhi and snatched Rs.950,00 after shooting one of them Monday, police said.

Surender, field officer of the Sarvajanik Sahakari Bank in Trinagar, and Ashwini, a peon, were travelling in an auto-rickshaw when the robbers stopped them near Prem Bari in Keshavpuram area around 3.30 p.m.

The robbers opened fire and injured Surender, 47, and Ashwini, 30, when they resisted.

Surender was shot in his back, while the robbers injured Ashwini with the butt of a gun. They then snatched the bag carrying cash and escaped.

The injured were rushed to the Bhagvan Mahavir Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of the Police (Northwest Delhi) N.C. Bundela said both the injured men were out of danger and recuperating.

Last year, motorcyle-borne men were involved in 832 cases of snatching, robbery, murder and other crimes. Till June this year, at least 472 such cases have been reported.
