New Delhi, July 24 - The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has accepted an invitation to join the new expanded membership of the International Federation of PGA Tours.
'It is a very proud moment for PGTI. In just three years, Mr. Gautam Thapar, President, PGTI, has created a robust platform for professional golf in India,' Padamjit Sandhu, director, PGTI, said Friday.
'PGTI's inclusion in the International Federation of PGA Tours will accelerate the growth of golf in our region, and is testimony to PGTI's success and the growth of Indian professional golf internationally.'
The International Federation of PGA Tours was formed in 1996 by golf's five world governing bodies - the European Tour, Japan Golf Tour Organization, PGA Tour, PGA Tour of Australasia and Sunshine Tour (South Africa) - to provide a forum for the world's professional golf organisations to discuss issues of mutual importance and, together, develop and promote golf on a global basis.
