Mumbai, Sep 25 - This is a situation late film star and Congress leader Sunil Dutt may never have imagined. His two children, Congress MP Priya Dutt and Samajwadi Party general secretary Sanjay Dutt are ranged on opposite sides of the political divide to support their party candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Priya Dutt will campaign for Congress strongman and former minister Baba Siddiqui, a close confidante of the Dutt family for over three decades, while her brother and Bollywood star Sanjay would canvas for well-known advocate Rizwan Merchant.
The siblings have pitted themselves in the Bandra West constituency where Baba Siddiqui is taking on Merhant.
According to Samajwadi Party youth wing leader Farooq Ghosi, Sanjay Dutt and his wife Manyata went with Merchant when he filed his nomination papers and also signed as the proposers.
Sanjay Dutt said the Bandra West area was his father Sunil Dutt's stronghold and 'I shall ensure that the Samajwadi Party candidate wins from here.'
