Lucknow, Sep 23 - Less than a day after replacing the state police chief, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Wednesday named Amit Ghosh as the new district magistrate of Lucknow.
Ghosh replaces Chandra Bhanu, who has been elevated as the state's trade tax commissioner.
Ghosh is currently the district magistrate of Meerut, where he is to be succeeded by Bhuvnesh Kumar, currently managing director of Central Uttar Pradesh Power Distribution Company.
Bhanu, who was brought in to head the district shortly after Mayawati assumed the chief minister's office in May 2007, earned the reputation of a 'dynamic' officer after he successfully steered the district through many a crisis over the past two years.
