New Delhi/Srinagar, Sep 15 - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will take over investigations into the Shopian killings in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this year, official said Tuesday.
The bodies of two women - Nilofar and Asiya - were found by the side of a local stream near Shopian town in Jammu and Kashmir May 30. The incident had triggered protests across the valley.
Four police officers - the then district police chief of Shopian, his deputy, an inspector and a sub-inspector of police - were suspended and later arrested for negligence of duty and destruction of evidence in this case.
