Lucknow, Sep 14 - Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways R.P.N.Singh Monday said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government will undertake, within an year, the total road construction work done by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government during its five-year tenure.
'What the NDA had done (in road construction) during its five-year regime, we will complete the same just in one year,' Singh told reporters at a press conference here.
'To make it happen, our government has committed to lay 20 km of road on a daily basis. We are working on it seriously,' added Singh.
The minister said currently work on 29 road construction projects was being undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Uttar Pradesh.
