Washington, Sep 11 - Visiting Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram Thursday met US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and asked Washington to put pressure on Pakistan to conduct the trial of Mumbai terror attack conspirators, including Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed.
'I did brief her on the state of the trial of Ajmal Kasab (the lone captured 26/11 terrorist) in India. I also mentioned about no progress in Pakistan even in respect of the five-six people they have arrested. And that Hafiz Saeed remains a free man,' Chidambaram told reporters after the meeting.
The two leaders met at the State Department.
'I think that is enough. I think the US understands the way India has approached the post 26/11 situation and how Pakistan has approached the situation. I think it is enough to draw attention to the difference and leave it there,' he said.
