New Delhi, Sep 10 - Three Tamil Nadu advocates Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking the central government be asked to ensure adequate security for the Indian cricket team touring Sri Lanka for the forthcoming tri-nation series.
Advocates A. Veeramaniganda, A. Joel Paul Antony and Raja Ram in their lawsuit also urged the apex court to direct the government to issue proper a 'travel advisory' to all Indians visiting countries that face threats from terrorists.
The three advocates moved the apex court after the Madras High Court recently dismissed their plea.
The advocates claimed in their lawsuit that the Indian cricketers and hundreds of fans visiting Sri Lanka for the tri-nation series tournament are vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
The island nation had till recently witnessed serious ethnic conflict resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians, the advocates cited as the reason for their apprehension.
