Bhopal, Sep 10 - Normal life in several towns and cities of Madhya Pradesh was disrupted Thursday due to incessant rains in the last 24 hours.

'The state has been receiving heavy rains due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal,' regional director of Bhopal meteorology department, D.P. Dubey said.

He said: 'More heavy showers were expected in the next 24 hours.'

'The Narmada river was flowing at the danger mark at Sethani ghat in Hoshangabad. Over 240 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Hoshangabad so far,' he added.

Heavy downpour in the last 24 hours has inundated low-lying areas in towns such as Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Sagar and Pachmarhi and forced the affected people to take shelter either in temporary camps put up by the administration or in school buildings.
