New Delhi, Sep 10 - Former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Thursday came out in support of expelled Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh and questioned the party's decision.

'The way Jaswant was treated was not good. There is a need to praise his book,' Shekhawat told reporters soon after his meeting with Singh.

'Jaswant should be with the party and I am with the people,' he added.

Shekhawat, a BJP veteran, also said indiscipline has increased in the party and there is fall in the standards in the organisation.

Shewkhawat's remarks came after Singh called on him here.

Singh claimed to 'know him (Shekhawat) since 1966' and said that he had called on the former vice-president to 'enquire about his health'.

Singh, a former finance and defence minister, was expelled from the BJP Aug 19, two days after the release of his book 'Jinnah - India, Partition, Independence', in which he held that Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah had been unfairly demonised in India.
