Bhubaneswar, Sep 10 - The search was still on Thursday to find the missing Russian engineer of a cargo ship that sank off Orissa's Paradip coast Wednesday, officials said. Twenty six of the 27 crew members onboard the ship have been rescued.
The Mongolian cargo ship carrying around 25,000 tonnes of iron ore sank off the Orissa coast with 27 crew members onboard. The search to find the missing Russian engineer Alexander Liosinko is still on.
'The ship tilted about 35 degrees when it was sailing off Paradip Port due to shifting of the load. And later it sank. Twenty six of the 27 crew members have been rescued so far. The search is still on to locate the missing crew member,' said V.K. Verghese, the coastguard commandant.
Meanwhile, the port authorities are worried about the oil spill along the coast.
'We are concerned about oil spill along the coast. We are closely monitoring the situation. We have also called in aircraft from Kolkata to monitor the situation,' he added.
Paradip is about 100 km from Bhubaneswar.
