Mexico, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) Mexico is hosting the 62nd Annual Conference of Non Governmental Organisations to focus on disarmament and nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Experts from 70 countries are participating in the conference Sep 9-11. The theme of the meeting is 'Disarmament Now, Let's Work for Peace and Development'. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is also participating in the meeting.
Ban said the Tlatelolco Treaty in 1968 created the first nuclear arms free zone in the world, with the outstanding contribution of Alfonso Garcia Robles, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982 for his struggle against armaments.
The conference will also deliberate on the world financial crisis and preparation for the upcoming G-20 summit in the US this month.
