Srinagar, Sep 9 - Senior hardline Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani, chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat group, was released by authorities late Wednesday.
Geelani's release from detention came after the state high court Tuesday quashed the Public Safety Act (PSA) under which he was detained.
Geelani was detained for nearly three months after his arrest in the wake of the Valley-wide protests and agitation following the rape and murder of two women in south Kashmir's Shopian town May 30.
Considering his old age and health, Geelani was kept under detention in a tourist department lodge hut in the high security Chasmashahi area of Srinagar after it was declared a sub-jail by the authorities.
